I guess one thing good come out of today. I was on my way home from lunch, since I hadn’t heard absolutely anything from the nurses about my wife, I decided to call the operator. The operator asked my wife’s name, but it didn’t click that they were about to transfer me to her bedside phone. Mind you I have not heard from my wife at all since Wednesday night when all the drama happened and they were pushing the ventilator. The lady transferred me, it rang, then my wife answered. I can hear the sound of are blowing by her voice as she answered. Having that 60 l airvo attached to her nose had to have been the weirdest thing to be able to talk. I told her I didn’t know why the operator transfered me to your room, and I’m sorry that I disturbed you. I told her that I was trying to get ahold of her nurse. I asked her to have the nurse call me when she got a chance. I told her I loved her. And she said she loved me too. Now was one of the greatest 30 seconds of my entire life. Needless to say that nurse never called me back and once again I had to call her back. Thinking that she was still in the ICU, I had the operator transfer me to the ICU nurses desk. The lady that never identifies herself with her name answered my ask for my wife. She ended up transferring me to the charge nurse where I talk to the charge nurse about my wife. She told me they transferred her back upstairs to the step-down unit. The charge nurse didn’t transfer me up to that nurses station oh, and they had no clue where she was. I couldn’t find her, finally I told her that her nurse was named Kelly. So I was transferred the Kelly where I began to talk to her. I asked her why I didn’t get notified of this major change that happened today? She had no real explanation. I then asked another question. I asked her if the previous nurse passed any information on to her about possibly doing a video conference. Absolutely nothing was passed. I got all the necessary information I found out she was moved at noon today from ICU. I told her that it was very very important to communicate any changes to my wife health status that is Major, or anyting else that could affect her in a negative way. I also told her I wanted a report at the end of her shift or just before the end of their shift so I can see how everything was going. That never happened. So once again I am back to the drawing board of not being communicated with.
